Harrison County Jail Records Start With WVDCR
Harrison County does not run a normal sheriff-operated county jail roster from a jail in Clarksburg. Current Harrison County jail inmate records flow through the West Virginia Regional Jail Offender Search because North Central Regional Jail and Correctional Facility is operated by the West Virginia Division of Corrections and Rehabilitation. The Harrison County Sheriff's Office still matters. It makes arrests, serves warrants, transports prisoners, handles court security, and receives public records requests for sheriff-held records. The custody lookup itself, however, is a WVDCR regional jail record when a person is held at North Central.
The local Harrison County Sheriff's inmate-search page is a useful gateway. It tells users to enter at least two characters in the last-name field and warns that jail docket information changes quickly. For a broader official check, the WVDCR name search requires at least the first three letters of the last name and a CAPTCHA. The daily incarcerations page can also show same-day admissions by county or institution. Released people may stop appearing, and full profile details may remain behind the search workflow, so no jail listing should be treated as a final court record.
The official Harrison sheriff inmate-search screenshot in the manifest shows the local last-name instruction, the bond alert, and the county disclaimer on one page. The image below is sourced from the Harrison County Sheriff's inmate-search page.
That local page is best read as a starting point. The live jail record still needs to be checked against WVDCR and, for charges, the court system.
Use the Harrison County Jail Roster
The most direct path for current jail custody is the state regional jail name search. Use the local Harrison County sheriff page if that is where the search begins, then move to the WVDCR regional jail search when a broader or direct official lookup is needed. A person arrested in Clarksburg, Bridgeport, or elsewhere in Harrison County may be booked into North Central, which is outside the county seat but serves Harrison County under the regional jail system.
- Open the Harrison sheriff inmate-search gateway or the official WVDCR Regional Jail Offender Search.
- Enter the last name. The sheriff page says at least two last-name characters are needed, while WVDCR says to enter at least the first three letters.
- Add a first name if the last name is common, then complete the CAPTCHA required by the WVDCR search.
- Check Daily Incarcerations when the arrest may be same-day or when a county/institution admissions view is more useful than a name search.
- Call North Central Regional Jail at (304) 873-1384 when the online record conflicts with what a family member, attorney, or court has reported.
Daily Incarcerations is not the same as a full inmate profile. On July 2, 2026, the North Central admissions table displayed six admissions and showed time, name, birth date, and gender columns. It did not display mugshots, charges, bond, or housing unit fields in the admissions table.
Harrison County Roster Search Fields
The WVDCR regional jail search is narrow on purpose. It is built around name search, with CAPTCHA gating the submission. That makes spelling important, and it also means a search can fail because of a short name fragment, a typo, a recent release, or a record that has not yet settled in the public system. The daily incarcerations page is a separate official channel when the question is whether a person was admitted today.
| Field Label | Type | Required | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Last Name (Partial or Full) | Text | Yes | WVDCR validation requires a last name with at least three characters. |
| First Name (Optional) | Text | No | Useful for common last names; maximum length shown in captured form was 100 characters. |
| CAPTCHA | Challenge | Yes | Google reCAPTCHA is required before the WVDCR search submits. |
| Daily County | Dropdown | Yes, for daily search | Daily Incarcerations lets users choose Harrison County or review institution admissions. |
The manifest includes a successful screenshot of the official WVDCR regional jail search form. It comes from the WV Regional Jail Offender Search.
The form confirms the limited field set. It also explains why a court case number or booking number alone will not replace a name search in this jail lookup.
What Harrison County Inmate Records Show
The captured WVDCR daily admissions record is not a full profile, but it does show the fields readers can rely on from the inspected public table. Full profile fields could not be verified from static HTML because the detail route returned to the CAPTCHA/name-search workflow. For that reason, Harrison County inmate records should be described with care. Charges, bond, housing, photo, and release data may be available after a valid search, but the research did not capture them in a way that supports a blanket claim.
| Field | What It Shows |
|---|---|
| Inmate Details | A link labeled View Details, with full static detail blocked by the search workflow during inspection. |
| Time | The admission time listed in the institution admissions table. |
| Last, First, Middle Name | The name as shown in the daily admissions table. |
| Birth Date | Date of birth in numeric month/day/year format. |
| Gender | Male or Female as displayed in the daily table. |
| Institution | North Central Regional Jail appears in the table title when institution admissions are opened. |
Booking means intake after arrest. Intake can include identity checks, property handling, a photo, fingerprints, charges, classification, and a housing decision, but the public table may show only part of that chain. A pretrial detainee is held before case disposition. A sentenced inmate is serving a sentence after a court order. A detainer is a hold from another agency, such as another county, parole, USMS, or ICE.
Harrison County Jail vs DOC Lookup
The Harrison County jail roster covers regional jail custody, not all correctional custody. People arrested in Harrison County and awaiting a first appearance, bond decision, preliminary hearing, misdemeanor disposition, or short jail sentence belong in the regional jail search. A person committed to state prison custody after sentencing may move to the WVDCR prison locator instead. Salem Correctional Center and Jail is physically in Harrison/Doddridge County, but it is a state prison/correctional center and not the ordinary Harrison County pretrial jail roster facility.
| Custody Type | Where to Look | What It Covers |
|---|---|---|
| Pretrial or jail sentence | WV Regional Jail Offender Search | Regional jail custody at North Central and other WVDCR jails. |
| Same-day booking check | Daily Incarcerations | County or institution admissions, including North Central admissions. |
| Sentenced prison or parole | WVDCR prison offender search | Active supervision, prison, or parole status only. |
| Federal sentence | BOP inmate locator | Federal inmates from 1982 to present, not county jail bookings. |
| Immigration custody | ICE detainee locator | Adults in ICE custody or CBP custody over 48 hours, not mugshots. |
Custody distinction: A no-result response in one system does not prove release. It may mean the person belongs in a different custody channel.
Harrison County Jail Facilities
Two facilities matter most for Harrison County inmate records. North Central is the practical jail destination for Harrison County detainees. Salem is a state prison/correctional center, so it should be checked with the WVDCR prison search rather than the regional jail search. This difference matters for visits, mail, bond, and records requests.
North Central Regional Jail and Correctional Facility
1 Lois Lane
Greenwood, WV 26415
(304) 873-1384

(304) 782-2371
State prison/correctional center for sentenced DOC custody, not the Harrison County pretrial jail roster.
Harrison County Booking Process
A Harrison County arrest may begin with a sheriff's deputy, city police officer, State Police trooper, or another law-enforcement officer. The arresting agency confirms the charge, warrant, or court process and arranges transport into the regional jail system. For Harrison County, that usually means North Central. The Sheriff's Office may have records of the arrest, transport, warrant service, or incident, while WVDCR controls the regional jail intake and public custody record.
After admission, WVDCR collects identifying data and classifies the person for custody. New entries may appear in Daily Incarcerations before a reader can find a complete profile by name. The first court step can follow through Magistrate Court, where the court record begins to show the formal complaint, bond, hearing dates, and later charge status. For bond, the Harrison sheriff inmate page links to AllPaid and states that a $25 processing fee is added per bond effective July 1, 2025. That fee should not be confused with the bond amount set by a court.
Harrison County Jail Visitation
North Central visitation is scheduled by the inmate. The research states that the inmate must request visits through KIOSK Visitation Requests or use NCRJ Form 5-0033 when the KIOSK is not working. Requests are made from 0800 Monday through noon Thursday for the following week's visits. The visiting week begins Sunday and ends Thursday. Visitors not named in the request are not eligible to visit, and a visitor more than 15 minutes late may be denied unless the facility was called with a valid reason.
| Day | Hours | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Tuesday | 3:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. | Last appointment 7:30 p.m. |
| Thursday | 8:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. | Last appointment 12:30 p.m. |
| Sunday | 12:30 p.m.-5:30 p.m. | Last appointment 5:00 p.m. |
Visits are 30 minutes, non-contact, scheduled in advance, and limited to one visit per month unless a special visit is approved. Each visit is limited to one adult and two minor children, or two adults. Adults must sign the logbook and show valid government photo ID. Visitors are subject to search, magnetometer scan, x-ray screening, and pat searches. Personal items such as purses, pocketknives, cell phones, diaper bags, watches, coats, and jackets should be left in the vehicle.
Contacting a Harrison County Inmate
WVDCR mail rules use a statewide scanning address, not a direct envelope to the housing unit. The envelope must list the inmate's first and last name, OID number, the full facility name without abbreviations, and PO Box 336, Phoenix, MD 21131. The sender must include a full return address with complete first and last name. Photographs are not allowed, letters may be sent to only one offender, and attachments or enclosures are not accepted under the captured WVDCR mail rules.
| Service | Documented Channel | Harrison County Note |
|---|---|---|
| Phone and video | WVDCR GettingOut page | WVDCR names GettingOut as the contracted calling and video provider. |
| AdvancePay and Trust | ConnectNetwork WVDCR page | North Central is listed where AdvancePay and Trust services are available. |
| Custody notification | West Virginia VINE | Use VINE as a notification supplement, not as the sole official record. |
Harrison County Records Requests
When a jail search does not answer the question, the next channel depends on which agency holds the record. Sheriff arrest reports, incident reports, warrant-service records, transport records, and local law-enforcement records may be requested from the Harrison County Sheriff's Office under West Virginia FOIA. The sheriff page and form identify SheriffFOIA@harrisoncountywv.gov as the email route and state that agencies must respond within five business days. The form asks for requester contact details, a clear description, fee category, optional fee waiver request, signature, and date.
For WVDCR jail custody records, start with WVDCR search tools and the facility phone line. For court charges, use the Magistrate Case Record Search and then contact the Harrison County Magistrate Clerk or Circuit Clerk because documents are not online through that portal. For prison custody after sentencing, the WVDCR DOC locator is the better tool. For federal or immigration custody, use BOP or ICE rather than the Harrison County jail roster.
Note: Confirm current custody before sending money, requesting a visit, or assuming a listed booking charge is the final court charge.
